Why put goat's milk in soap?
Where to begin? Goat's milk is awesome! We love it so much, we gave it a page all its own (Goat Milk Soap Benefits). Its ability to nourish and moisturize the skin makes it the ideal foundation for a truly amazing and healthy bar of soap. Goat's milk is rich in proteins, vitamins, and minerals and contains enzymes that work as exfoliators — removing dead, crusty skin cells from the surface of your skin — leaving new, young, healthy skin cells behind to bask in the limelight. For more information, check out what natural ingredients we use in our bars of goat milk soap or see what we have to say about eczema, psoriasis, and sensitive skin.
Q:Is there lye in your soap?
Nope, but there was. Lye is used in the production of our soap but is not contained in our soap when you purchase it. All soap is the product of a chemical reaction between lye (a strong alkali) and fatty acids (triglycerides), called saponification, which produces soap and glycerin. This process takes between 12 to 48 hours to complete. We cure our soap for 4-6 weeks to allow ample time for all of the lye to be fully consumed by the saponification process. Curing the soap also allows any excess moisture to evaporate making for a harder, longer lasting bar of soap. This is a quality control standard we utilize to ensure there is absolutely zero lye remaining in our soap, and that you have a hard bar that won't mush away in the shower.
The fact that beauty products are wreaking havoc on our skin and bodies is finally getting some attention. The things we put on our bodies is not unlike the things we put in our bodies.
Goat milk soap is a great alternative that can offer not only a chemical-free option, but generously provides a few more benefits, including anti-aging. Of course, consuming goat milk can certainly help too, but why not give your skin the thirst-quenching benefits of goat milk, from a well-made quality goat milk soap, right on the surface of the skin?
